A BED BY THE WINDOW
By: Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Alex Iheonunekwu
“Wide My World And Narrow My Bed”Mr. Muo.
Yes my people, the Imo State Governor selected 27 youths from the 27 Local Government Areas to 'widen their world ' go to South Africa to watch and cheer the super Eagles to victory. The Governor has done well, Bravo. He has widened' the world of these youths. Whether or not the Super Eagles win, is not the problem of the Nigerian youths in South Africa.
Now, the governor has announced his intention to constitute those youths who went to South Africa as his own boys; what does that really mean? Does it mean that they will be employed on arrival back to Nigeria? Does it mean that the governor will constitute them his own youth vanguard? His own political tugs? To fight his political enemies? Does the governor mean that each youth comes back to head “youth tuggery “ in his own local government area? When constituted, then, the governor's youth will be capable of kidnapping political rivalries, capable of assassinating political enemies, capable of intimidating the electorates, then capable of carrying ballot boxes and inflating figures and announcing inaccurate figures and results. My friends, you can agree with me that the governor has widened the world of the youths by sending them to South Africa but narrowed their bed by constituting them 'the governor's boy'.
Mr. Ekweremadu. For real, the governor and his agents have many agenda on the table. Now, the “Imo Face/Phase agency” has employed a new tactics to promote the political gang of the governor. The agency has resurrected a part of the talk given by the governor since 2008 and made it a quiz for secondary school students, with prices attached. The sole objective of the competition is to let the young students sound the praises of the governor. Again, by the competition the agency or Imo Face Orientation has widened the world of the kids but have narrowed it by trickishly making them make positive remarks about the governor.
Mrs. Ukachi,
From the beginning I am not a politician and you know it too. But what is happening in the State is just like the man in the news who pregnanted his daughter. Could you imagine that: the father of his daughter's child. Reliable sources indicate the federal allocation for Imo State is shared right away from Abuja; greater quota to the state government and a token fee to sole administrators of the local govt. areas. In the local governments, no money to carry out any meaningful projects. A few sole administrators who graded some roads from their areas this raining reason have done more harm than good. The roads are impenetrable, swampy and slippery, making movement very difficult for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorist. The situation causing misery to the masses is like a man pregnanting his daughter. The bad roads have kept us under house arrests.
“Man by the window.
Actually this window is to be narrowed, even closed till September 2010 as the bed goes out to view the world widens my world.
